Things that come to mind when I think about the United States.

Pancakes, peanut butter, target, ethnic food, marshalls, cars/car rides, english, friends from wellesley, novato, middlebury, mit, and berklee, us money, music that I can readily understand, huge supermarkets with everything you could possibly want, california avocados, "hella", unlimited text messaging, finally being 21 in the states, multicultural-ness, dressing casually, SANDWICHES made right, bakeries, cupcakes, store bought box cakes, frosting, variety of fruit, heaters and airconditioners, frat parties, house parties, bbq, suburbs, american slang, hip hop, jazz, and r&b, american breakfast, TEA, american coffee, college life, soup, MEXICAN FOOD, kick ass shoes, american humor, informed people, good conversation that happens with informed people, solidarity, understanding, awareness, movies, water parks, theme parks, california beaches, alternative people things and places, extreme socio-economic class divisions, obsession with productivity, summer jobs, papers, finals, reading, activities, extra-curriculars, graduating, life after wellesley, keeping in touch, road trips, dorm food, fast food, obesity, bad habits, boston winters, california summers, real fruit juice, hiking, american style dorms, rambutan, inside jokes, things that are required of me like financial aid, taxes, official correspondences, requisite courses, studying, being a wendy wellesley etc...Arizona's immigration law, New Orleans oil disaster,the future of high school and middle school textbooks as publishing companies switch from California to Texas, relation of the € to the $, literature I can readily understand, people i can readily understand (one hopes-its been a long time), re-realizing my own americanness.
